Mahurangi Claiments presents submissions before Waitangi Tribunal

Kai korero representing nga Whanau, Hapu o Mahurangi will present their korero to the Waitangi Tribunal this week as part of the Paparahi o t Raki Stage two Hearing process. The week long hearing is being held at the Talstra Centre Albany, starts tomorrow and will finishes  Friday afternoon.

Radio Tautoko will bring live coverage of the Hearing starting at 8.30 tomorrow morning.

Radio Tautoko is pleased  to  broadcast live from the Te Tii Marae Waitangi, this years Waitangi Commemorations.

The Hui started yesterday with the Powhiri for Ngapuhi and whakatau for the many people who arrived at the Marae including nga Iwi o Ngatiporou who brought the kawe mate for Parekura Horomia who’s photo was placed beside Ngatiporou rangatira Tame Temaro, a respected kaumatua who supported the Kotahitanga  Movement and ongoing commitment to  the sovereignty of Nga iwi Maori Other dignitaries  included the Governor General and this morning the Prime Minister and National Party members were welcomed onto the Marae.

The Hikoi against the proposal by the National Government to issue licenses to mine the seabed for oil and the whenua for other minerals, arrived at the Marae today and have organized  a hikoi to the Treaty Grounds tomorrow.

Over the next 2 days we will bring you live coverage of the many kaupapa at the Marae and the Treaty Grounds.


The Broadcast will finish at 4pm today and start tomorrow at 5am with coverage of the Dawn Karakia at the Whare Runanga and other events planned for the day
