Totara North School Fishing Competition
Totara North School are holding a fishing competition on the 1st and 2nd of May. This is a fundrasier for the school and there are lots of great prizes to be won!
Hua Parakore Show
Hua Parakore is a gardening show presented by Michelle Hudson. Every week Michelle gives you hints and tips of what to plant and when to plant using the Maramataka, an ancient maori calender.
This week 21 April – 27 April 2010 she talks about planting winter hua whenua that grows above the ground and gives some tips on planting Spinach.
Whakato nga kakano: broad beans, herbs, spinach, lettuce, kapiti, califlower, calandula, endive, broccoli
Whakato nga tipu: beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, endive, lettuce, onion, parsley, shallots, silver beet, spinach.
Hua rakau: Whakato nga parakipere me etahi atu hua me nga rakau panana hoki a tenei marama.

Citizens services (9am) Hokianga Memorial Arch, Kohukohu; (11am) Opononi War Memorial Hall; (11am) Waiotemarama Memorial.
Kaikohe: Dawn service (6.15am) Memorial Hall. Assemble 5.45am in RSA carpark. March off at 6am.
Okaihau: Community Service at Okaihau College Hall at 11am. March to War Memorial after.
Motatau: 28 Maori Battalion, Takapuna Urupa service at 10am
Kawakawa: The parade organised by Kawakawa and District RSA will begin at the cenotaph at 9am, after a march from the post office.
Kerikeri: The parade in Kerikeri is at 10.30am at the RSA.
Paihia: Assemble Ex Servicemen’s club at 5.30am for march to Canterbury Propeller Memorial. Service at 6.15am. Later service at Paihia Cemetery at 7am
Russell: Dawn service (7 am) at Ngaiotonga Marae.
Citizens service (10.30 am), Fall in (11am), cenotaph (11.30am), church parade (12.15pm) to Long Beach Cemetery.
Kaitaia: Assemble at the RSA from 5.30am for the dawn parade to the cenotaph and service at 6am. A civic service will be held in the community centre in South Rd, Kaitaia at 11am.
Te Kao: At 11am on Potahi Marae and at the Houhora Cemetery at 2.30pm.
Mangonui: A civic service will start at 11am in the War Memorial Hall.
Whangaroa: Citizens service (10.30am) Whangaroa Memorial Hall, Leigh St, Kaeo.
