The three Taitokerau Maori Radio Stations are preparing to broadcast live from the Te Tii Marae Waitangi nga ra whakanui Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Te Reo o te Taitokerau. Radio Ngatihine, Te Hiku Media and Tautoko fm have joined forces and will broadcast from the Te Tii Marae starting tomorrow.
This year main stream media have been given an opportunity to have exclusive rights to access coverage of events on the marae
at a cost.
Tautoko Manager Cyril Chapman said that in the past the main stream media have not always given justice to one of the most important days in the history of the Aotearoa Nation, and rather than reflect the many positive aspects of the commemoration, continue to choose to report on aspects of the gathering that sell and promote division rather that the unity on the many Hapu who gather to honour our Tupuna and Te Tiriti and to debate the many take a Te Tiriti.
He said the annual Hui gave Ngapuhi a opportunity to meet with other tribes who have been effected by the many Te Tiriti breaches and to continue to work on the aspirations on the Maori nations to regain and maintain Tino Rangatiratanga.
The broadcast with start tomorrow at 9am and on Monday from 5am to 2pm.
